Japan To Host Olympic Games in 2020

Japan was picked to host the 2020 Summer Olympic games by International Olympic Committee. The hosting of Japan would be the second from 1964 hosting of the same Olympiad.

 Japan was the country which was chosen among two other contenders Spain and Turkey in spite of the radiation concern brought about by earthquake that ravaged the country in 2011 especially the Fukushima Prefecture where the Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant is located. Turkey, its 5th attempt to voluntary host, was the least choice, among the two other countries, raising security concern and considering also the crisis in neighboring Syria that borders the said country. Japan decisively won by almost 50 percent or 60 votes against Spain by 36 votes which hosted the same event in Barcelona in 1992. Prior to 2020, Brazil will be hosting the Summer Olympic Games in 2016.
