National Historical Commission of the Philippines

On September 24, 1972, following the declaration of martial law, National Historical Institute, which was the successor of the Philippine Historical Research and Markers Committee, was created under Presidential Decree No. 1.

The NHI was tasked to conserve and preserve historical relics of national interest and legacy and to install historical markers. It is known today as the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP).
